Catholic Charities of Oregon respects the privacy of every visitor to our websites and every user of our mobile apps. Your privacy is a priority, and we go to great lengths to protect it. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use information about our online visitors. We know you care about your information and we want you to be fully informed about our practices.

What Types of Information Do You Collect?

Information you provide to us directly. We may collect personal information, such as your name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number (“Personal Information”) when you register on our Website, sign up for our mailing list, or otherwise communicate with us.

Traffic Data. As is true of most websites, we automatically collect certain information when you visit our Website. This information includes: (i) IP addresses, (ii) domain servers, (iii) types of computers accessing the Website, (iv) types of web browsers used to access the Website, (v) referring/exit pages, (vi) data about usage patterns throughout the Website (e.g. click rates on different links etc.). Information of this type (“Traffic Data”) is anonymous information that does not personally identify you but is helpful for us to improve the business performance and user experience of the Website.

Cookies. As is true of most websites, we use cookies to collect Traffic Data related to the Website. When you sign up for our e-newsletter, you may receive various emails about our programs, volunteer opportunities and fundraising events (“Marketing Emails”) based on your selection or which emails you “opt in” to. Marketing Emails contain an unsubscribe option which you can follow at any point if you wish to stop receiving some, or all, Marketing Emails.

Volunteer Opportunities. When you sign up for volunteer opportunities through our third party vendor, you may provide personally identifiable information such as your name, email and login credentials. This information assists us in personalizing and improving your volunteer experience. We will not collect any personally identifiable information from you unless you voluntarily submit such information to us.

Donations. When you choose to give to Catholic Charities of Oregon, you may provide personally identifiable information, such as your name, contact and credit card information. You have the option to make contributions anonymously. When you use your credit card for donations through our third party vendor, the security of your credit card transaction is protected by measures, such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls and physical security. Data handled by our Payment Partners is subject to the Payment Partners terms and privacy policy.

Social Media. You may share content from this Site or App with your friends using social networking services and such social networking services may collect and use your information as set forth in their own privacy policies.

Is My Personal Information Confidential?

Except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy, we will keep your Personal Information private and will not share it with other third parties unless such disclosure is necessary to: (i) comply with a court order or other legal process, (ii) to protect our rights or property, or (iii) to enforce our Terms of Service. Please keep in mind that while we take reasonable precautions to safeguard your Personal Information no amount of protection can guarantee its security.

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. Wherever we collect sensitive information that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the Web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, Volunteer Managers) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

However, no security system is impenetrable and we cannot guarantee the security of our systems.  In the event that any information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and, where appropriate, notify those individuals whose information may have been compromised and take other steps, in accordance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Other Personal Information: We share your Personal information with other business partners who assist us in performing core services (such as hosting, data storage, and security) related to the operation of the Website. These business partners only use your Personal Information to perform these core services, which are necessary for the orderly operation of the Website.

What Choices Do I Have?

It’s up to you whether or not you want to provide us with Personal Information. You can still visit the Website without providing us with Personal information, but you will be unable to take certain actions without doing so.

How Can I Update or Correct My Personal Information?

If you know, or suspect, that your credit card, user name, or password has been lost, stolen, or used without your authorization you need to contact us immediately. Upon notification, we will take reasonable steps to mitigate any damage which may have been caused. You are responsible for the safety and security of your user name and password. You should logout after each session you have with the Website and you shouldn’t share this information.

Intellectual Property

The contents of the Website, including designs, texts, images, icons, sound recordings and the overall appearance of the Website are protected by US and foreign copyright laws. Catholic Charities of Oregon grants users the right to view and print information for personal use but not for any commercial use.

Children’s Privacy

As a non-profit organization, we are exempt from the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). However, Catholic Charities of Oregon does not collect personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.  Catholic Charities of Oregon does not accept volunteers under the age of 16. Families may volunteer together, and all children must be supervised by their parents or guardians while volunteering.
